TELL ME A STORY - series BY CHINMAY MISSION
Tell me a story-series-1,2,3
About The Book:
The
series ‘Tell me a story’ contains olden historical stories like stories from ‘The
RAMAYANA , The MAHABHARATA’ and similar stories of kings, sages, giants,
Rakshasas, Gods etc. I was very lucky to get these books as a gift during my
visit to Chinmay Mission. The series is written by SWAMI CHINMAYANANDA and SWAMI TEJOMAYANANDA two
great ‘swamis’.
What’s in there?
There
are amples and amples of stories in each of the three books. The series is a bit like ‘PANCHATANTRA/AESOPS
FABLES/ARABIAN NIGHTS. There are also stories about great people like MAHARSHI
VALMIKI, MAHARSHI NARAD and BRAMHADEV, great scholars and foolish people like
‘Kittu – the Wise” – you will understand his foolishness. Oh! That is only if
you read the book.
There
are stories about how good people turn into bad people and then learn
life-changing lessons and become good again. Most of the stories are based on
devotion to God i.e Supreme Power or Guru.
There
are mantras in some of the stories like ‘Jay Jagdish Hare, Jay Jay Jagdish
Hare’. It is fun chanting them again and again. They are like tongue twisters.
These books are like a magical flying carpet overflowing with different and
beautiful multicolored flowers. No! don’t get me wrong, by flowers I mean
stories.
The
pages of the books too are filled with interesting, colorful pictures. The
print looks beautiful because of its combination with glossy, white pages. And
the language is extremely lucid and easy to understand.
My take on it
I really
think that this series was mind-blowing. On reading the books I felt like
telling my friends, classmates etc. to read this series and understand some
spiritual values like ‘Ego destroys’, ‘Be kind to everyone’ and ‘don’t be
selfish’. These values are like precious stones and gems found in each story.
So I
felt like writing a book review. I wish you would all read these books and
enjoy them. If you read for two hours a day you will finish a single book in 2
to 3 days as the font is big.
My score of Paani Puris:
