Captain Awesome versus The Spooky Scary House

I was searching through the list of books in my library and there I found the Captain Awesome series. The name ‘Captain Awesome’ and the picture of the Nacho Cheese Man attracted me. Hence I ordered this book as my first read of the series.

What’s in there?

Captain Awesome and Nacho Cheese Man, the heroes, are actually two kids who turn into superheroes on wearing their special suits. Captain Awesome who is actually ‘Eugene’ has a super Mi-Tee Force and also has many senses like ‘danger sense’ ‘awesome sense’. When there is danger around, his danger sense starts tingling. Nacho Cheese Man who is actually ‘Charlie’ has the power of canned Cheese. He has a cheese can from which he can pump out cheese. Eugene and Charlie are best friends.

In this particular book it is Halloween and monsters roam freely in the country as people do not detect them. Nacho Cheese Man and Captain Awesome are patrolling for them on their bicycle. They are searching for them when they see the 'Scarecroaker', an evil monster. They defeat him and go. On the same night they discover a spooky, scary house. Eugene goes there in his dreams that night and sees something white – like a ghost! In school their friend tells them something about that house. That night both the super heroes really go inside the house to find the headless ghost of the "Sunnyview spirit'. Arrival of a mystery hero takes place…what they find after that is a thrilling mystery.

My take on it

I felt thrilled while reading the book. Captain Awesome is a super-duper super-hero and Nacho cheese man is just like a friend he should have. Although, in spite of reading two books in this series, I have not yet understood what the Mi-Tee Force is all about, I would like you all to know that Captain Awesome has many different powers that keep on surprising us while reading the book. Nacho cheese man always keeps a can of cheese for emergency even while sleeping. I really found it interesting and fantastic that the author has created a super hero by using a very common everyday thing like Cheese.

In some parts you will find it un-keepable, in some you will not. A small book with medium font and black and white shaded pictures, can be completed within 2 days by an average reader reading two hours a day. I will read the entire series and for sure give you my feedback and review on few other books in the series.

My score of Pani Purees is 4. Get on the journey with Captain Awesome and do not eat all the cheese in your house…it might have been pumped out by Nacho Cheese man…

My score of Paani Puris:
