Book Review: The Wishing Chair Collection by Enid Blyton

The Wishing Chair Collection ...by Enid Blyton

The Wishing Chair Collection by my favourite author Enid Blyton, is wonderful, amazing!

I say it is 'draughty!' because of the Chair's wings which keep flapping!

What's in there?

Once it so happens that two children named Peter and Mollie have gone to a shop to buy their mother a Birthday gift. They sit on a chair in the shop, frightened, because a fox just leaps out of a box and Peter says.."Oh! I just wish we were home!" and ....lo and behold....the Chair starts growing wings of its own and escapes from the shop, flying out of the window. The shopkeeper, a funny little man, shouts at the chair and tries to catch it.. but in vain.

On an adventure, Peter and Mollie save a Pixie from a giant's castle. The Pixie's name is 'Chinky'. He then lives in the Children's playroom and guards the chair. Then, the three have adventures and more adventures!

Each time the Chair takes them to different, unimaginable places, full of surprises. They meet the dear-me Goblin and fly up to the Snoogle's castle where Chinky gets trapped. They fly to funny places like the topsy-turvy land, the land of Grab-it Goblins, the Windy wizard and many many more. Finally Mollie and Chinky fly to the land of Scally wags where they rescue Peter and this dear book and its adventures end there. Oh! how i wish i get the wishing chair and get to fly in it! I would love to do that.

My take:

This is one of the first books I read, but I am amazed, it still keeps me engaged. This creation of Enid Blyton...everyone must read.  If you are to read this entire collection in one book, an average reader who reads two hours a day will finish reading it in 10 to 12 days!

My score of Paani Puris:

πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

In my many more book reviews to come, I am going to measure my rating for each book by way of Gol Gappe! Paani Puri...that's what we call them!  I just love Paani Puri's and hence i will rate the books on the scale of 1 to 5 Paani Puris, 5 being the best!
